Social Media Club Gaithersburg chapter launched its new addition to the SMC organization with @4sqMoco, the local Montgomery County account on Foursquare. Celebration kicked of at Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg, MD with speakers Ann Bevans and Shannon Mouton. The day was important enough that Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz stopped by with an official declaration of Foursquare Day with a plaque!

In a new space to improve production of the fashion show, this year's runway was packed with technology, fast music beats and sexy volunteer models. Luke's Wings works with the families of wounded Military soldiers to fly them in and be with their family. Fashion and fun raised funds that will bring the couture of a smile worth the fabric of family ties.

Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins NFL running back hosted "Love From The DMV" as part of the Clinton Portis Foundation. The funds raised from his celebrity event held at Farmoso Restaurant will support the youth affected by the BP Gulf oil spill. As an athlete himself, Clinton knows the importance of youth athletic programs and training facilities that keep community kids active and out of trouble. The message was heard and celebrities like Mya, Elise Neal, Lyle Sylva, Raheem DeVaughn, Gary Clark and more turned out to show Love from the DMV!

]]>Thursday DC Nightlife welcomed N Street Village to the Rock and Roll Hotel with a special fundraiser event: Night Sessions! In their first ever young change-maker event the nonprofit raised over $34, 000 to support their programs and life building activities for DC area homeless and low-income women. That's impressive! Three local area bands performed for the crowd including: Ro Sham Bo, Tom McBride and The white Ford Broncos, and the headliner was a DC favorite on the rise, Evan Bliss. The creative co-chairs of Night Sessions, Justin Fishkin of the Holster Project and Sarah Flack of Transcend Marketing & Events, pulled out the rocking stops and helped N Street Village achieve an event milestone. On Jun 15th, a select group of local DC metro businesses were honored with an award in categories such as Best Use of Twitter or Facebook. NVTC and Welz & Wesiel, a PR/Communications firm, formed a partnership for NVTC Social Media Committee in ealry March 2010. The first SMA awards held at K Street Lounge in downtown Washington, DC.

Nadine Namoff created a winning team to design and produce the second annual Couture For A Cure in honor of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and delivered an excellent show sponsored by Microsoft and Capitol File Magazine. Sarah Fraser from Hot 99.5 FM and Scott Thuman, a WJLA News Reporter, emceed the event in style. Woolly Mammoth Theater was overflowing with notable attendees such as Katherine Kennedy, Krista Johnson, Mary Amons and other fashion divas!

]]>Washington DC media women anchors and reporters assembled at Ritz-Carlton Georgetown for 2nd Annual NewsBabes Bash for Breast Cancer. Local favorite, WUSA9 Angie Goff, managed the team from WUSA9, Fox 5, ABC7, WTOP and other media to bring action to Susan G. Komen's fight against breast cancer. Notable in attendance was Ambassador Nancy Brinker and First Lady of DC, Michelle Fenty. Pink was the theme and survivors were on the scene.

Over 500 guests raced through the Ritz-Carlton to meet the DC Newsbabes, greet breast cancer survivors, sip cocktails and walk away with some fun swag bags. Fezelry Jewelry by Christine Haynes was provided as gifts to Nancy Brinker and Michelle Fenty. Tommy McFly of Mix 107.3 FM broadcast live and had fans behind the lens for photos. DJ Flounder from Hot 99.5 took time out to spin a few tunes that had guests grooving...in the Ritz! An phenomenal turnout for the 2nd annual event.
